The Jarmila Jeřábková Award civic association was established in 1999 when the first Jarmila Jeřábková Award competition was held. Since then the association has organised the annual choreography competition of young professional creative dancers and their choreographic creations, the international New Europe Festival, various accompanying events, dance workshops, expert seminars and performances. Its goal is to support and spread awareness of contemporary dance and dance theatre.
Since 2013 the New Europe Festival has been divided into two parts, as the Jarmila Jeřábková Award competition held in one year is succeeded by the winners‘ foreign tour in the following year.
